It’s every kids dream to hand-feed a live shark.

Since the year 2000 Majestic Aquariums have been conducting FREE shark feeding shows. These shows are used to increase public knowledge on these wonderful and important animals. The shows cover shark education, conservation and actively promoting the atrocities of shark finning.

Since the shark shows have started, thousands of people have chosen never to eat shark fin soup, many even choosing to blackban restaurants that serve it. Several restaurants have even taken it off their menu once they have seen this show, including the Ocean room restaurant at Circular Quay.

Over 100 million sharks are killed annually just for their fins. If it continues then one day there will be no sharks left. When the sharks are caught their fins are cut off and the sharks are thrown back into the ocean, where they take about an hour to die in excruciating pain.

In some cultures, shark fin soup is a symbol of riches and wealth and is often served at celebrations.

The Japanese have developed a synthetic shark fin material but no one chooses to buy it. We need to make people aware of the problems this is creating, as sharks have the best immune system on the planet and are very important to the balance of the oceans. When fish get sick they are meant to be eaten by sharks, but if the sharks are all turned into shark fin soup, the diseases are passed onto other fish and animals.

The sharks will be back soon in a bigger and better tank!
