If you Don`t run a CO2 system, make sure you use Flourish Excel! It gets rid of algae and allows the plants to thrive.

I place a bit of polyfilter in the filter and replace it when it turns black. The polyfilter will remove all the bad stuff from the water including phosphate, which is what creates algae!
Flourish excel is a must for all plant tanks, it will change the state of organic carbon so it can be used as CO2! Black algae is a thing of the past!
